Dinner Theater Event Postponed

Yesterday we received unfortunate news from an attorney representing Neil Simon, author of Plaza Suite, stating that though we have been cleared to move ahead with our performance in September, we are strictly forbidden to alter, soften, or remove any of the blasphemous language contained in the script. Basically, we must perform the play as is, or not at all.

We contacted the licensing department to see if any exception could be made but were unable to make any headway. As you can imagine, we are, sadly, forced to scrap our plans to perform Plaza Suite.

What does this mean? We still plan to move forward with our Dinner Theater event. However, in all likelihood, this event will have to be delayed indefinitely to give us adequate time to choose a new, suitable play to perform.

We are truly sorry to break this news to you, as we were very excited about putting on this production. We are already in the process of finding alternative plays to perform and hope to announce a new performance date soon.

Neil Simon's Plaza Suite

Dinner Theater

We will be performing Neil Simon's Plaza Suite on September 25th.

Audition Info

Auditions for our one night only performance will be on Saturday, July 10th at the church building in the main sanctuary. We are asking everyone who wishes to audition to be there by 9:30 am sharp. Callbacks will take place the following day. Auditions are open to members of the church who are 18 years or older.

An audition script will be available very soon, hopefully by the middle of next week. Due to copyrights, we cannot put this on our site. Instead, email Teresa at teresa@schoolhausinc.com and a script will be sent to you once ready. Again, please read over the script and rehearse prior to the audition date, and come prepared to read for any of the male/female roles.

Though Plaza Suite was written to be performed primarily by male/female leads in their late 30’s and 40’s, we are very open to the idea of adapting certain roles, whether it be older or younger. So please audition and send an email out to Teresa.

About Plaza Suite

We highly recommend you familiarize yourself with the Character Summaries and Plot Synopsis pages prior to auditioning.

Directing

Because Plaza Suite is essentially three separate one acts thrown into one, we are open to sharing directorial duties with any disciples with experience/interest. Please contact us if you are open to this responsibility.

Dinner/Set Design/Volunteers

Whether you plan on acting in Plaza Suite or not, we are asking everyone in the ACTS Ministry to be involved in this event in some way or another, as we will need assistance in planning the dinner, serving our patrons, ushering, set design, and so forth. We would be very grateful for your help and support! Let us know if you’d like to volunteer.

No, all ages are welcome. However, if you are under the age of 18 you will need the approval of a parent or guardian.

What Is The Commitment?

That depends on you. We understand that commitments and sacrifices are made for your church group, family, work, and so on and can leave little time for anything else. Let us know what your availability is and we can provide several options from which to choose from. All we ask is that you commit to whatever role you volunteer for. Simply let your Yes be Yes and your No be No.
